Prepping For A Hurricane
We are praying and hoping we do not end up with catastrophic damages due to this upcoming hurricane, but we all know that we MUST be prepared for this thing. We have a solid 4.5 days until Irma is supposed to hit Florida. Unfortunately, it is too early to tell what the exact path may be but IT NEVER HURTS TO BE PREPARED.
1. STOCK UP ON SUPPLIES.
Get water, canned vegetables and fruits (make sure you have a can opener!), candles, batteries, baby supplies, pet supplies. Just a short list of things you may need to stock up on ASAP. If you find your store is sold out, check on Amazon to get these items delivered to your door before the storm hits.
2. SECURE OUTDOOR LOSE ITEMS.
Such as patio furniture, potted plants, pool toys and floats, etc. Secure this items by tying them all together and bring it as close to your property as possible or store in a garage.
3. PUT ALL IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS IN WATERPROOF CONTAINER.
Passports, birth certificates, social security cards and things such as deeds should be locked up in a waterproof container.
4. MAKE A PLAN WITH YOUR FAMILY.
Be ready, just in case. Find the safest spot in your house, make sure all family members know phone numbers by memory and plan an evacuation route in case we are notified to leave ASAP.
5. FILL YOUR TUB WITH WATER.
This should allow enough water for 3 days and will allow you to flush toilets.
6. FILL ZIPLOCK BAGS WITH ICE.
Put all the ice that you have in your freezer into plastic bags. Fill all spaces in your freezer with bags of ice. Freeze water bottles, too.
7. HAVE CASH ON HAND.
Make sure to have cash on hand in case of ATM's down and credit card machines not working.
8. FILL UP ON GAS.
In all your cars, boats and extra gas tanks if possible.
